AI voice solutions, and which one you actually need
Most buyers start by comparing vendors. That is the wrong order. Decide the category first, because a receptionist platform and an outbound dialler are different products with different pricing, and a provider that excels at one is often mediocre at the other.
Each page below covers what the solution does, who it suits, where it fails, what it costs to run, and what to test before you buy.
Eight solution categories
Direction of calling is the first thing that separates them.

The second column is the one worth reading.
| Solution | Direction | Best fit | Not ideal for |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI cold calling | Outbound | You have more contacts than time, and most of them have never heard of you. | Your list is unscreened, or its consent history is unclear. |
| AI appointment setting | Outbound | Your problem is conversion from interest to meeting, not reach. | You have no calendar discipline. The AI will book into chaos. |
| AI receptionist | Inbound | You lose business to voicemail, or after hours, or during lunch. | Most callers need judgement rather than information. |
| AI inbound calling | Inbound | Call volume spikes and your team cannot absorb it. | Every caller expects a named person they already know. |
| AI lead qualification | Both | Your salespeople spend more time sorting than selling. | Your lead volume is low enough to qualify by hand. |
| AI customer service | Inbound | The same twenty questions consume most of your support time. | Your queries are mostly complex, emotional or account specific. |
| AI follow-up calls | Outbound | You have a graveyard of leads nobody has time to revisit. | You cannot establish what those contacts originally consented to. |
| AI voice agents | Both | You know you want voice automation but not which shape. | You already know the use case. Read that page instead. |
Still unsure? The full comparison puts these alongside managed telemarketing and a human call centre.
Four things that apply whichever you choose
Compliance does not vary by category
Outbound marketing calls need Do Not Call screening, and re-screening every 21 days, regardless of what the product is called. The exception is a number you hold clear and unambiguous consent for, and the burden of evidencing that consent is yours. Read the Do Not Call screening rules.
The call has to connect
Singapore telcos block international calls displaying +65 prefixes. Ask where calls originate before anything else, and see why calls displaying a +65 prefix get blocked.
Local voice quality is not optional
A fluent voice that mispronounces local names loses the call in ten seconds. How to test it.
Cost follows connected minutes
Not dials. Your bill is driven by conversations and their length. You can work out what AI calling would cost at your volumes.
